For aspiring authors and illustrators, it is a long road into the Australian book industry. Fortunately there are organisations with lots of advice that help along the way. Here are three important organisations that each provide a wealth of information.

The Children's Book Council of Australia is a not for profit, volunteer run organisation which aims to engage the community with literature for young Australians. The CBCA presents annual awards to books of literary merit, for outstanding contribution to Australian children's literature.

The Society of Children's Book Writer and Illustrators is a valuable worldwide society that is divided into regions who each hold quarterly meetings where members share ideas, news, and hear from industry professionals.

The ASA is the professional association for Australia's authors and illustrators. They provide advocacy, support and advice for authors and illustrators in matters relating to their professional practice.
