Autumn News

It’s been a busy creative time in the studio. This morning I woke to the crispness of autumn and thought it was probably about time that I update you on the latest!

Introducing PD McPem’s Agency for Mysterious Mysteries- Case 1 - The Recorder Racket. This super sleuth- PD McPem loves to solve mysteries with her puppy Scooter. I have had the incredible opportunity to illustrate the series from Rowena Beresford publisher at Yellow Brick Books. So much fun to bring her to life- and the promise of more fun- this is just Case 1 so their will be more fun to come!

In between illustrating for Yellow Brick Books and my Pattern Design projects, I have been working on my portfolio and refreshing it with a few new pieces. I love having the time to do this.

Where do I get my ideas?

I actually can’t say… I tend to have many more ideas than I actually have time to produce. Often an idea will come from seeing an image that triggers an idea or even from events in my day. I also find that ideas can ebb and flow. Sometimes I go through creative periods where my brain will wake me at 3am bursting with ideas that I can’t ignore. Hence the paper and pencil that are always by my bed!

I have also been working on designs for Surface Pattern Design. I love to create stand alone illustrations as well as patterns that relate to the illustration. This pattern below is still a work in progress and needs some tweaking but is my latest project.
